🐟Ingredients

- Bourbon. Bourbon infuses the salmon with its distinctive flavor.
- Soy sauce. For salty, savory, umami flavor.
- Salmon filets. You can use fresh or frozen (thawed) salmon fillets. Pat the salmon dry with paper towels to allow the marinade to better soak in.
- Minced garlic. If you're all out, use ¼ teaspoon garlic powder.
🥃Variations or Substitutions
- Instead of bourbon, use another type of whiskey, rum, brandy, or cognac. For a non-alcoholic alternative, try apple juice, white grape juice, or chicken broth. The flavor won't be the same, but it will still be delicious! I've never tried bourbon extract, so if you do, let me know!

✅Top Tips

- In a hurry? Skip the marinade, season the salmon with salt and pepper, brush on the BBQ sauce, and bake.
- Watch the salmon closely while it's broiling so it doesn't burn.
- Do not use parchment paper under the broiler.
- Cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of the salmon.
🎁Storage
Store leftover salmon in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. You can gently reheat salmon at a low temperature in the oven, but it's really good cold flaked into salads, wraps, and grain bowls, or just as-is.
❓FAQ
I recommend marinating the salmon in the bourbon marinade for no longer than one hour. Any longer than that, and the fish can get mushy.
Definitely. Just place the fillets skin side down while baking and remove the skin after if desired.
Yes, the marinade can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
A sweet and tangy BBQ sauce works well to balance the oaky flavors of the bourbon.
