    • 📖 Recipe

I love making homemade dressings. They're fast and easy to make, taste waaaaaay better than store-bought dressings, and you have total control over the ingredients. So when I had a little store-bought hummus left over from these Hummus Veggie Wraps, I turned the rest into this creamy hummus salad dressing.

    🍋Ingredients

See recipe card at the bottom of the post for the full list of ingredients and exact amounts.

    hummus dressing ingredients.
    • Hummus. Use your favorite store-bought or homemade hummus. Plain, garlic, spicy, or red pepper hummus would all be delicious choices.
    • Lemon juice. Fresh lemon juice balances the earthy flavors of chickpea hummus.
    • Dijon mustard. Dijon adds tang and rich flavor.
    • Apple cider vinegar. A splash of vinegar brightens up any homemade salad dressing.
    • Parsley. Parsley adds a lemony, herbaceous flavor. Try other herbs like basil, mint, or oregano.

    🌿Variations or Substitutions

    • Mustard. Instead of Dijon, try stone ground mustard or one of these substitutes for Dijon mustard.
    • Herbs. Substitute 1 tablespoon of fresh herbs for every teaspoon of dried.
    • Vinegar. For milder flavor, use red wine vinegar, white wine vinegar, or rice wine vinegar.
    • Seasonings and spices. Add 1 clove of fresh minced garlic or ¼ teaspoon garlic powder or a little cumin or cayenne pepper, or a dash of hot sauce.
    • Sweeteners. For a touch of sweetness, add a little honey or pure maple syrup.

Step 2: Store in a mason jar or an airtight container for at least an hour to allow the flavors to develop.

👉Helpful Hint: After stirring it together, taste it and adjust the seasonings to your preferences. For brighter flavor, try more lemon, vinegar, or mustard. For sweetness, add a little honey or maple syrup. If the flavor is flat overall, try a little salt.

    🎁Storage

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Stir before using.
