🥓Ingredients
See recipe card at the bottom of the post for the full list of ingredients and exact amounts.
- Bacon. I used thick-cut bacon strips from a big batch I made in the oven. See how easy it is to cook bacon in the oven here.
- Shredded chicken breast meat. Store-bought rotisserie chicken or any leftover chicken breasts will work perfectly here. Or use grilled, poached, or baked chicken breasts or chicken thighs.
- Barbecue sauce. Use your favorite bbq sauce -- our favorite brand is Sweet Baby Ray's. We also love this homemade Jack Daniels BBQ sauce.
- Broccoli slaw. Broccoli slaw is a mixture of shredded broccoli, carrots, and red cabbage, and it adds fresh vegetables and a crunchy texture. Use any coleslaw mix you like.
- BBQ ranch dressing. I love this super easy homemade BBQ ranch dressing, you can also find it at the grocery store or Amazon.
- Flour tortillas. Use large burrito-sized regular flour tortillas or try a whole wheat tortilla or spinach wraps.
🥬Variations or Substitutions
- Swap out spinach for any lettuce or fresh greens like romaine lettuce, arugula, or spring mix.
- Instead of Colby-Jack cheese, sharp cheddar cheese is always a great option. Or try Monterey Jack for mild flavor or pepper Jack for a kick.
- Since there's already BBQ sauce in the chicken, you can use regular ranch dressing -- or another creamy dressing you love. Blue cheese dressing would pair nicely with BBQ chicken!
- Ditch the tortillas and make lettuce wraps instead. Butter lettuce or large romaine leaves work well.
🥣How to Make Easy Barbecue Chicken Wraps
Step 1: Toss the shredded chicken with the BBQ sauce. Set aside. In a separate bowl, toss the broccoli slaw, spinach, tomatoes, and onions with the BBQ ranch dressing.
Step 2: Warm tortillas between layers of damp paper towel in the microwave for 30 seconds. Place the cheese in the middle of the tortilla, then layer on the slaw mixture, BBQ chicken, and bacon.
Step 3: Fold in the sides of the tortilla, roll the bottom up and over the filling, then roll the tortilla closed while tucking in the sides.
Step 4: Serve cold or warm. For a warm BBQ chicken wrap, warm the BBQ chicken mixture in the microwave before rolling in the wrap or place the assembled wrap seam-side down on a warm oiled skillet until golden, flip and repeat.
👉Helpful Hint: For a warm BBQ chicken wrap, warm the BBQ chicken mixture in the microwave before rolling in the wrap or place the assembled wrap seam-side down on a warm oiled skillet until golden, flip and repeat.
✅Top Tips
- Warming the tortilla makes it soft, pliable, and easy to roll.
- Cut the chicken, spinach, and vegetables into bite-sized pieces so it's easy to roll and eat.
🎁Storage
Wrap fully assembled bbq chicken wraps in parchment paper or foil and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
🗓️Make Ahead
For the freshest make-ahead chicken wrap, prepare the bbq chicken and broccoli slaw/spinach salad (without dressing) and store in separate containers. Add the dressing to the salad mix and assemble the wrap just before eating.
❓FAQ
Use a whole wheat or low-carb tortilla. Swap Greek yogurt ranch for regular ranch. Add extra veggies like bell peppers or avocado for more nutrients. Use 1 slice of cheese per wrap.
No worries—swap it for Buffalo sauce, honey mustard, or chipotle mayo for a totally different (but still delicious) flavor!
Yes! We do that, too! Skip the tortilla and toss everything in a bowl. Add extra spinach, fresh vegetables, and tortilla strips, and drizzle with BBQ ranch for an epic BBQ chicken salad.

- 3 tablespoons BBQ sauce
- 1 cup broccoli slaw or shredded cabbage

- ¼ cup red onion, diced
- ½ Roma tomato, chopped
- 3 tablespoons BBQ ranch dressing or ranch dressing
