White chocolate shards are an easy-to-make cake decoration that will make your desserts look like they were decorated by a professional. All you need is white chocolate, parchment paper, a microwave, and a freezer and you’re ready to create your 3-dimensional masterpiece!
In a microwave-safe dish or glass measuring cup with a handle, heat 1 cup of white chocolate chips on high for 30 seconds. Stir. Continue to heat in 15-second intervals or until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
Immediately pour the melted chocolate onto a piece of parchment paper. Spread the chocolate into a very thin layer. Very thin.
Place another piece of parchment on top of the chocolate and press down to release any air bubbles.
Carefully roll up the parchment into a one-inch roll, or as close as you can get to that. Place the roll in the freezer for at least an hour or the refrigerator for several hours.
Once the chocolate is firm, unroll the parchment paper. You can leave the shards in long strips or break them up into random pieces, like I’ve done here.
