Ham in a Roaster Oven is juicy and succulent with a sweet and savory brown sugar pineapple glaze -- and frees up oven space during holidays and special occasions. Serve with red skin mashed potatoes, corn casserole, and green bean casserole for a delicious holiday meal.
Pour water into the roaster oven insert pan. Preheat to 325.
Trim excess fat from the ham down to ¼ inch. Score the ham in a diamond pattern by cutting lines about ⅓ inch deep and 1 inch apart.
Wrap the ham in foil with the opening at the top. Place the ham on the rack in the roaster and roast for 1 hour 15 minutes.
While the ham is roasting, combine the glaze ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer for about 5 minutes or until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture has slightly thickened.
Brush the ham with ½ of the glaze and wrap it again in foil. Roast for 1 hour. Brush the ham with the remaining glaze and keep the foil open. Turn the heat to 425 and roast for 10-15 minutes to bake in the glaze. Cook to an internal temperature of 140.
Remove ham from roaster oven. If desired, brush the top of ham with glaze from the foil. Let the ham rest for 15 minutes before cutting.
Notes
If cooking a smaller or larger ham, heat ham for approximately 15-20 minutes per pound until heated through to 140 degrees. Start glazing ham during the last hour so the glaze doesn't burn. For a glossy finish, save a little bit of glaze to brush on right before serving.
