    • Easy recipe to make ahead for parties, potlucks, and holidays.

Peanut butter chocolate heavenly desserts go by many names - peanut butter lush, chocolate lasagna, Oreo delight - but this no-bake heavenly Oreo dessert is the ultimate heavenly dessert. Layers of buttery Oreo crust, peanut butter cream cheese with chocolate chips, chocolate pudding, and Cool Whip, topped with crushed Oreos and peanut butter chips. An easy summertime dessert that tastes like a slice of heaven.

    🍫Ingredients

peanut butter oreo heavenly dessert ingredients
    • Oreos. You'll need 40 Oreos, 36 for the crust and 4 more to crush on top.
    • Cream cheese. Use room temperature cream cheese so it blends easily into the peanut butter layer.
    • Cool Whip. Pick up two 8-oz. tubs of Cool Whip at the grocery store -- one for the cream cheese layer and one for the top layer. If you're not a fan of Cool Whip, I recommend giving Truwhip a try.
    • Chocolate chips. Mini chocolate chips add crunch and rich chocolate flavor to the peanut butter layer, and also make a great topping.
    • Instant chocolate fudge pudding mix. You can also use chocolate pudding mix, it's just not quite as decadent as chocolate fudge pudding mix. Be sure to get instant pudding, not cook and serve.

    🥧Variations

    • Crust. Use different cookies for the crust, like Nutter Butters, Biscoff, Nilla Wafers, graham crackers, shortbread cookies, or other flavors of Oreos.
    • Pudding. Try another pudding flavor like vanilla pudding, white chocolate pudding, butterscotch pudding, or cheesecake pudding.
    • Pie filling. Add a layer of cherry pie filling or strawberry pie filling (think PB&J!) over the cream cheese layer! Or mix and match your favorite pie filling and pudding flavors.
    • Flavor extracts. Add flavor enhancements like vanilla or almond extract to the cream cheese or pudding layer.

🥣How to Make Peanut Butter Oreo Heavenly Dessert

Oreo crust in a clear baking pan

Step 1: Crush Oreos in food processor or blender. Combine cookie crumbs with melted butter. Firmly press crumbs into a 9 x 13 inch cake pan. Freeze.

Step 2: Beat cream cheese, peanut butter, and powdered sugar. Fold in the Cool Whip until completely combined. Fold in the mini chocolate chips. Spread the mixture over the Oreo crust.

Step 3: Whisk pudding mix and milk for 2 minutes. Let it sit for 5 minutes to set. Dollop pudding over peanut butter layer and spread evenly.

Step 4: Spread Cool Whip over the chocolate pudding layer. Cover and chill at least 4 hours or overnight. Before serving, top with crushed Oreos, peanut butter chips, and chocolate chips.

    📅Make Ahead

    • Chocolate Peanut Butter Heavenly Dessert is a great recipe to make a day ahead of time. Add the crushed Oreo topping right before serving to keep them from getting soggy.

    🧊Storage & Freezing

    • Store Oreo heavenly dessert in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
    • To freeze, cover with plastic wrap and freeze. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator or serve partially frozen.

    ✅Expert Tips

    • Grind the Oreos into fine crumbs -- it's the best way to get a compact crust that will stay together.
    • For easier spreading, chill the dessert in the fridge or freezer after each step.
    • Chill the assembled dessert at least 4 hours up to overnight to allow the layers to set and firm up

    ❓FAQs

Can I use homemade whipped cream instead of Cool Whip?

Yes, you can substitute Cool Whip with stabilized whipped cream in heavenly dessert recipes. Just note that it may not hold its shape as long, so it's best served within a day or two.

Can I use different flavors of pudding in this Oreo dessert?

Yes. As long as you use instant pudding, not cook and serve, use whatever flavor of pudding you like! Vanilla, French vanilla, white chocolate, or cheesecake are great alternatives.

Can I use different cookies for the crust?

Yes. Try using chocolate graham crackers, Nutter Butters, shortbread cookies, or any cookie that crushes well and pairs with the flavors in the filling.

    What toppings can I add?

You can top this Oreo dessert with chopped Oreos, Reese's cups, Reese's Pieces, M&Ms, mini chocolate chips, a drizzle of chocolate or peanut butter sauce - or all of the above.
